I’m a registered physiotherapist and Stott Certified pilates instructor who has always been fascinated with understanding functional and dysfunctional movement patterns.
My belief is that many of our chronic aches and pains result from years and years of maintaining and moving around within poor postural patterns. Although some structures can’t be changed, we can improve the flexibility of a muscle and the stability around a joint.
Incorporating pilates into my practice allows me to work actively with my clients and this dynamic approach to healing is very successful. My studio is located in beautiful Vernon, BC.
My practice has a special focus in pelvic health. I treat both men and women with issues of incontinence, prolapse and pelvic pain. I became interested in pelvic health when some of my clients would talk with me about how they were leaking when they were running or how they were experiencing pelvic pain when cycling.
I began taking courses in pelvic health and have not looked back since! Many women and men suffer with bladder/bowel and pelvic pain issues. As a physiotherapist, I work with my clients to help them improve their pelvic floor muscle health.
Every year I take at least a few courses to continue my learning and these may include topics such as: diastasis, gastrointestinal disorders, pelvic cancers, tailbone pain, and prostate issues among others. The learning never ends and this not only keeps the field of pelvic health interesting but it allows me to continue improving the level of care I am able to offer my clients.
During my off time, I enjoy lots of different exercise activities; skiing, swimming, yoga, pilates, weights and cycling. Riding my motorcycle with my hubby, practicing the drums or hanging out with friends and our tripawd Maggie fills in the rest of the time.
